Anna Lucke by Oliver Brenneisenjpg

Anna Lucke is a freelance fashion- footwear- and accessories designer. In 2000 she graduated with a master`s degree at the Burg Giebichenstein Art College in Halle. Right after, she went to London to study for another year in footwear and accessories at the Cordwainers College. From 2002-2008 she worked as a shoe designer for s.Oliver, Görtz, and Belmondo. In 2008 she became freelance and started a long-term collaboration with the shoe brand Tamaris. Since 2018, she mainly works on her own projects and is currently based in Hamburg.
Anna Lucke's products have a rather minimalist design, well thought-out functionality, and come to life through color and graphics. She always follows her claim to optimal use of the material, the appreciation of the existing, and reliable production when creating something new.
In addition to her head, pen, and paper, her studio and factory are her most important tools and living space - because the best things come while making them.

In March 2020, I moved to my new workshop, from Hamburg - Blankenese to Hamburg Ottensen. It’s my most favorite place to work in. Here I have everything, a high table for pattern making and cutting, three sewing machines, materials, tools, discarded kites, a big screen, a beautiful view in a garden, and the most lovely neighbors. I enlarged my work on the computer, started with digital prints on patterns and fashion, and followed my work in unique pieces, and styles from old kites and other materials.

2008, as I became a freelance designer in footwear, I also started to work on my idea to upcycle discarded Kitesurf kites into windbreaker, fashion items, and accessories. 2009 I found the ideal place to do this, in Hamburg - Blankenese, close to the river, close to the port, and even closer to the gate to the world. A workshop I shared with an upholsterer, wood- restorer, jewelry designer, and architect. The perfect place to work in crafts and making when I was in Hamburg. Around three months per year I spent in China to design footwear. I could have had this for years more. But things always move on...
